October was a mixed bag for “Marvel Snap” fans. The Undead Horde season was disappointing with its Season Pass card. The Horde archetype, focusing on creating a massive zombie card, wasn’t as powerful as expected, but it introduced new additions such as Headpool and and Colonel America that will have life outside of the spooky month.
November’s season focuses on the Spider-verse with the Premium Pass featuring Spider-Punk that lets players move the card once, and also steal 2 Power from the highest-Power enemy there. The effect repeats each time it’s moved. The Super Premium Pass card, which can also be purchased separately via a Seasonal Snap Pack, is Man-Spider. The Premium Pass costs $9.99 and the Super Premium Pass costs $19.99.
So far, both have been well-received by the community. Man-Spider is shaping up to be a powerful card as players figure out the On Reveal mechanic that merges it with the last card played and doubles its Power. It repeats with Agony and even works with Blob, creating massive cards capable of winning a location.
The rest of the upcoming season also features Spider-centric cards, coming out weekly as Series 5 additions that can be purchased alone or in Seasonal packs. They include:
Superior Spider-Man, a character created when Doc Ock takes over Peter Parker’s body, will be great for players hoping to add more energy per turn. (Second Dinner) Superior Spider-Man, which has the text: “At the start of each turn, you get +1 Energy if you have any cards with increased Power in play.”
It’s set up to be a more reliable way to gain energy to play higher cost cards.
Ezekiel Sims, which has the text: “After you play a card with higher Power here, give this +2 Power and move this to another location.”
It’s another card that benefits the Move archetype.
Spider-Man Noir, which as the text: “On Reveal: If your other cards in play cost exactly 8 total, add the top card of your deck here. Set its Power to 8. (0/8)”
It’s a complicated requirement, but it has the potential to be very powerful like Prodigy.
The Prowler, which has the text: “On Reveal: Add 2 Thief’s Tools to your hand. Set their Costs to 0 if a card moved last turn.”
It’s another Move-centric card, but the inclusion of tools makes it more versatile and an attractive addition.
The Prowler, a character from Miles Morales’ universe, has several tools that make him versatile. (Second Dinner) The tools, which act as skills, are the following:
Flight Harness: On Reveal: Give your highest-Power card here +1 Power and move it to the right.
Remote Mines: On Reveal: Afflict the 2 highest-Power enemy cards here with -2 Power
Vibro-Shock Gauntlets: On Reveal: Give your highest-Power card here +2 Power. You get +1 Energy next turn.
The Series 4 Seasonal packs this season will also include these cards:
Web Sling, a skill card that has the text: On Reveal: Next turn, you can move one of your cards away from here.
Chameleon, a character card that has the text: On Reveal: Copy the text of another card here you revealed this turn.
Deafening Chord, a skill card that has the text: On Reveal: Afflict an enemy character here that costs 3 or less with -1 Power and remove its text.
Lastly, Hydro-Man is a card that’s coming as a reward during the Sanctum Showdown limited-run mode, coming Nov. 24 to Dec. 1. His card text reads: On Reveal: Set the Cost of EACH deck’s top card to 1.
