A Saratoga High School counselor was recently honored for helping center students in their college search process.

Sierra Ward, a college and career center specialist, was named one of this year’s Counselors That Change Lives. The award is presented by the organization’s member institutions and board of directors to counselors who help students look beyond rankings and ratings to find colleges that will aid in their lifelong learning and personal growth.

In congratulating Ward for being recognized for her work, Superintendent Heath Rocha said in a release. “We are so grateful for the excellent opportunities and experience our college and career center specialists at both schools offer to our students and families. From planning career fairs to scheduling college presentations and helping students individually navigate their journey after high school, I am so grateful for their ongoing support and commitment to our students.”

The institutions and board members involved in Ward’s selection for the award said that her careful commitment, integrity and expertise in helping students plan their college journey aligned perfectly with the organization’s mission. The school district said that Ward received this recognition for her efforts in empowering students to find the right college for them, advocating for their futures and prioritizing their well-being during the process.

Ward will receive a framed recognition and be featured on the Colleges That Change Lives website at https://ctcl.org.
