OAKLAND — A man was stabbed multiple times Sunday morning in the Chinatown district, authorities said.
The man’s age and condition were not immediately available. He is believed to be in his 40s, authorities said.
The stabbing was reported about 8 a.m. Sunday.
Police said evidence found at the scene indicated the man was stabbed near a bus stop in the 100 block of 11th Street. He had multiple wounds to his leg.
The man was able to make it more than 200 feet on his own around a corner onto the 1000 block of Madison Street, where he was able to get into a parked vehicle, authorities said.
The car’s alarm was activated and the owner found the man inside the vehicle and called police.

One of the first officers on the scene applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg to stem the bleeding before firefighters and medical personnel arrived.

Police were hoping to be able to talk to the man to get more details about what happened. A motive for the stabbing has not been determined. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.
