Oakland man charged with kidnapping and robbing ‘snitch’

OAKLAND — An Oakland man has been charged with kidnapping and robbing another man who had allegedly “snitched” on the suspect, court records show.

Andre Keithley, 59, was charged with kidnapping, carjacking, assault with a firearm, residential robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon. It all stems from the same March 8 incident where he allegedly forced the victim into his own home and took documents, car keys, and a sack that the resident claimed was full of “play money,” according to court records.

Keithley, who also reportedly goes by Andre Tolliver, was apparently angry at the victim for talking to his parole officer about a prior vandalism allegation. Police say that when he spotted the man near his home on 64th Avenue, he yelled “you’re a snitch,” and hit him in the head with a blunt object.

Keithley then allegedly forced the man into his home at gunpoint.

Police later tracked down Keithley’s girlfriend, Larenza Hunter, 67, who told them that she witnessed the event. She said she had dated the alleged victim before Keithley, and that when she saw Keithley hit the man with a weapon she assumed the victim was “dead” and fled the area.

Later, Keithley reportedly told her, “the less you know, the better,” according to police. She denied playing a role in the incident or seeing Keithley with guns, but prosecutors have charged Hunter with being an accessory after the fact, court records show.

Keithley was convicted of six counts of robbery in 2003, all stemming from the same case, and is therefore not allowed to possess guns, according to the criminal complaint. He is being held without bail and is next due in court for an arraignment on April 10, records show.

Authorities are also moving to revoke Keithley’s parole, according to court records.
