PITTSBURG — A Bay Point resident was convicted of four misdemeanors for sexually assaulting three women and a girl within a two-day span last year, court records show.
Jurors found that Oscar Medrano, 39, groped three women and a 15-year-old girl within a 48-hour period last December. At the time of the incidents, Medrano was out of jail facing pending misdemeanor charges of exposing himself to a nurse.
The indecent exposure charges are still pending. Medrano is set to be sentenced in the sexual assault case on May 19, court records show.
Police said Medrano groped two women at a Bay Point bakery on Dec. 2, 2024, then drove to another part of town, pulled over, and forcibly touched a third woman who was walking on the sidewalk. The next day, he reportedly groped a 15-year-old girl at a store on Willow Pass Road. He was still wearing the same outfit that all four victims described when a deputy arrested him hours after the final sexual assault.
Medrano was ultimately convicted of three sexual battery counts and one count of committing a lewd act on a child, court records show. The charges carry up to a year in jail.
Medrano’s legal problems started in 2019, when Pittsburg police officers arrested him for allegedly possessing 15 grams of methamphetamine in a latex glove, court records show. Federal prosecutors charged him with being a drug dealer and coming back to the United States after a prior deportation to Mexico.
In 2020, he was sentenced to two years behind bars, and was scheduled to be deported again after his release, according to court records. In 2024, Medrano was arrested in Contra Costa County once again, for allegedly pulling out his genitals and soliciting a nurse during a medical examination at a Pittsburg hospital.
Prosecutors charged him with indecent exposure in November 2024. He was scheduled to appear in court on the charges a month before the two-day sexual assault spree, records show.
Medrano was arrested on Feb. 4 on charges of violating his supervised release in the federal case, and has been in jail ever since, records show.
