Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order details have been updated with a new date

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order details have been updated with a new date

When Nintendo fully unveiled its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console, President Donald Trump’s tariffs haven’t been enacted, but once the scope of the duties were laid bare, the company gave pause to preorders in the United States.

Now after a delay, Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 retail pre-orders will begin on April 24, 2025. The launch price will remain the same as the April 2 annoucement. That means the core console will go on sale for $449.99 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will sell for $499.99. Meanwhile, the physical and digital versions of “Mario Kart World” will be $79.99 and “Donkey Kong Bananza” will be $69.99.

That latter news will irk some fans who were hoping that the price of the racing game would go down. Nintendo caused an uproar with a price of point of nearly $80. That’s $10 than typical titles on rival systems such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. With Nintendo revealing more about “Mario Kart World” in a recently released video, it looks as though the latest edition to the franchise is heavily influenced by the “Forza Horizon” series. The world seems enormous and there’s plenty to do both online and offline, but it remains to be seen whether that price tag will be worth it.

The biggest change in the announcement is that Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will have a price adjustment because of “changes in market conditions,” according to the company. It also said that Nintendo product price changes will be possible in the future. The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is $84.99 (previously $79.99) and Joy-Con 2 Pair are $94.99 (previously $89.99) while other accessories such as the Nintendo Switch Dock set are now $119.99 (previously $109.99) and NIntendo Switch 2 Camera are $54.99 (previously $49.99). Many of the accessories have added a $5 or $10 price increase.

With more uncertainty in the future, it’s perhaps better to grab the Nintendo Switch now rather than later.
