BRENTWOOD – Brentwood named Darin Gale as interim city manager as the search for a permanent hire begins.

Gale’s appointment follows the departure of City Manager Tim Ogden, who will be leaving for Sacramento County on April 26 after serving the city for the past five years.

Armed with a background in economic development, strategic planning, and community engagement, the city believes that Gale will be able to lead Brentwood during the interim period.

Mayor Susannah Meyer said the city council is confident that Gale’s leadership will provide stability and momentum as the city moves forward.

“His proven track record and collaborative approach here in Brentwood make him the right choice to lead our city organization at this time,” said Meyer in a statement.

The city also named Sukari Beshears to support Gale as interim assistant city manager.

Beshears has over 33 years of experience in local government and has been with Brentwood for over eight years, serving as both the director of human resources and risk manager.

“City council is in full support of (Beshears) in this expanded leadership role,” said Meyer. “We look forward to working with both (Gale) and (Beshears) in their interim capacities, through this transition and into a strong future for the city.”

The city council is expected to announce its recruitment process for the next city manager in the coming weeks.
