Campbell’s Heritage Theatre has a new state-of-the-art sound system

A sound investment

Campbell’s Heritage Theatre has a new state-of-the-art sound system, thanks in part to a $35,000 donation from Friends of The Heritage Theatre. The new sound system replaced 20-year-old equipment that has served the venue since it reopened in 2004.

The new Yamaha DM7 soundboard is a digital mixing console that has a range of uses from music production to live hybrid events and concert performances. The City of Campbell paid the remainder of the $62,791 total cost of the new equipment.

“The new sound system is a significant upgrade to the theatre’s technical capabilities,” Heritage Theatre Manager Monica Payne said in a release, while Production Manager Steve Milligan called it “a night-and-day improvement.”

Other, nontechnical contributions by the Friends of The Heritage Theatre include restoration of the original 1938 decorative urns at the theater’s main entrance and recent repairs to the theater’s blackout curtain.

Cars for careers

The Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center is hosting its 19th annual Bob McTaggart Custom and Classic Car Show on Friday, May 2, 5-8 p.m., at the Metropolitan Education District, 760 Hillsdale Ave. in San Jose.

Each year, the event attracts hundreds of attendees who come to admire a wide variety of custom and classic vehicles. Attendees can vote for their favorites in nine categories.

The show supports SVCTE’s SkillsUSA chapter, which helps students develop hands-on skills and leadership experience in preparation for careers in automotive technology and related industries. Previous shows have raised over $10,000 to support student competitions and educational resources.

In addition to showcasing vehicles, the evening also features raffles, prizes, music and food prepared by SVCTE’s Culinary Arts students. Admission is free; for more information, visit https://bit.ly/4ik3zvX.
