Nvidia widens South Bay footprint with $100 million-plus property deal

SANTA CLARA — Nvidia has widened its South Bay footprint in a big way with its purchase of a business campus near its headquarters through a real estate deal that tops $100 million.

The tech titan has paid $123 million for an office and research complex at the corner of Walsh Avenue and San Tomas Expressway in Santa Clara, according to documents filed on May 1 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.

The deal extends an expansion spree for Nvidia in the South Bay that appears to be continuing without apparent letup.

The tech company’s wheeling and dealing in Silicon Valley includes property purchase efforts as well as leasing activity, according to county real estate records.

Nvidia paid all cash to buy the Santa Clara campus, whose addresses include 2348 and 2350 Walsh Avenue, the county property documents show.

The business park is on the south side of Walsh Avenue and across the street from the Nvidia main headquarters, a futuristic-looking two-building complex at 2788 and 2888 San Tomas Expressway in Santa Clara.

The just-bought campus has 10 buildings, according to Google Maps and commercial property databases. The property totals 13 acres, a public planning profile shows.
