Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose is looking for its next artist-in-residence. Applications are open through June 1 at https://www.cdm.org/visit/exhibits/art-studio/artist-in-residence.

Campbell artist invites public into workspace for Open Studios

Artist-in-residence create and facilitate monthly hands-on art programs for children of all ages who visit the museum’s LeRoy Neiman Art Studio on the weekends.. The selected artist will receive $1,700-$2,125 a month for the 17- to 18-week program, plus a stipend for art supplies.

The artist will have the opportunity to display their own artwork in the museum’s gallery. Each artist will receive promotion on the museum’s marketing channels and a portfolio of their museum work in photos and video to take with them after their residency is complete.

Neighborhood Notes

ALMADEN>>Two Leland High School seniors were among the winners in ArtNow 2025, the annual juried art show for high school artists produced by New Museum Los Gatos, aka NUMU. The show features works by 83 students from across Santa Clara County, all on the theme of “Dreamscapes.”

Caroline Tomaz won second place in the mixed media category for “Home,” a gouache and acrylic work. Hyunsuh Kang took second place in the sculpture category for “Dreams Of Childhood,” a work made from clay, balloons, wooden skewer and acrylic.

In total, NUMU awarded over $10,000 in cash prizes, scholarships, and University Art gift certificates at a May 3 ceremony. The ArtNow exhibit is on view at the museum, located at 106 E. Main St. in Los Gatos, through July 20.
