Phish leader will perform at Grateful Dead celebration in San Francisco

The opening acts have been announced for Dead & Company concerts at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

And Phish “Phans” are going to be absolutely tickled over one of the choices:

The Trey Anastasio Band.

Anastasio, the vocalist-guitarist for Phish, will lead his solo band in an opening set on Aug. 3.

Other opening acts are Billy Strings on Aug. 1 and Sturgill “Johnny Blue Skies” Simpson on Aug. 2.

These opening sets will reportedly run approximately 75 minutes each.

These three concerts at Golden Gate Park celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead, the iconic Bay Area jam band that got its start in Santa Clara County in 1965.

Three-day tickets for these concerts go on sale at 10 a.m. May 30. There will also be a presale at 10 a.m. May 28. Register in advance for Dead & Company presale tickets at deadandcompany.com.

Three-day tickets start at $635 ($556 + $79 fees).

Single-day ticket information will be announced at a later date. They will be priced at $245 ($209 + $36 fees).

There will also a limited quantity of $60 tickets (available by lottery) for California firefighters beginning at 10 a.m. June 4.

The concerts are presented/promoted by Berkeley-based Another Planet Entertainment and Live Nation in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
