Oakland man charged with sexually assaulting and robbing woman he met online

OAKLAND — A man in his 20s was arrested and charged with forcing a woman to perform oral sex on him at gunpoint, then stealing a purse and $400 from her before kicking her out of his Lexus, court records show.

Xavier Crump, 28, of Oakland, was charged with forcible oral copulation, second-degree robbery, criminal threats and being a felon in possession of a firearm, court records show. The charges were filed May 19, four days after the alleged crime.

Crump is being held without bail and also has an unrelated parole violation case. His next court date has been set for June 3, court records show.

Oakland police allege that Crump and the victim — a woman in her 30s — met online and that Crump agreed to pick her up at a local hotel. Once she was inside her car, he allegedly put a gun to her head, told her to orally copulate him and said he’d kill her if she vomited during it, authorities said. Afterward, he allegedly instructed her to leave behind her Bebe purse, containing $400 and a cellphone.

Crump allegedly hit the woman multiple times during the encounter. He was identified in part due to a distinctive tattoo on his arm that says “Hood Rich,” which lined up with the woman’s description, authorities said.

The charging records say Crump is a six-time felon, with convictions dating back to 2016. These include convictions for robbery, two separate assault counts, as well as a gun possession charge from last year. He answered “nope” on the jail intake form that asks for employment information, according to jail records.

Crump has pleaded not guilty and his preliminary hearing — where a judge will review evidence and decide if there’s enough to justify the charges — has been tentatively set for June 5, records show.
