Brisk Bay Area temperatures, light rain forecast this weekend

Brisk Bay Area temperatures, light rain forecast this weekend

After weeks of basking in warm daytime weather and clear skies, Bay Area residents can expect to experience periods of brisk temperatures and light showers.

The National Weather Service has issued a “freeze watch” for for most of the Bay Area from 11 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Tuesday, warning that temperatures could consistently drop below 32 degrees. Moderate winds of 10 to 15 mph will bring considerable cloudiness into the area, the NWS reports.

There is an upside to having more overcast during the winter chill: “The clouds that are around the areas should limit temperatures tonight from getting too cold,” NWS meteorologist Ross Gass said Saturday. “We’re expecting 40 degree weather near San Jose, and in the East Bay — like Livermore and Concord — upper 30s.”

Slight rain will fall Saturday into Sunday night, although there is no need to get out rain boots and umbrellas just yet — rainfalls during that time will only amount to a tenth of an inch, he said.

From Monday through Wednesday, Bay Area residents can expect to wake up to chilly mornings, with temperatures in the low to upper 30s. The weather is expected to warm up again by Friday.
