Update: Heat advisory affecting Bay Area inland regions Saturday

North Bay Interior Mountains, East Bay Interior Valleys, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest and Mountains Of San Benito County And Interior Monterey County Including Pinnacles National Park are under an updated heat advisory which was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 12:58 p.m. The advisory is valid for Saturday, May 31 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Heat safety: Protecting yourself in hot conditions

Stay hydrated: Make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
Find cool shelter: Stay in an air-conditioned room.
Avoid sun exposure: Stay out of the sun, and make sure to check up on relatives and neighbors.
Child and pet safety: Never forget to safeguard young children and pets by not leaving them unattended in vehicles, especially during scorching weather when car interiors can become life-threateningly hot.
Caution outdoors: Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
Time your activities wisely: Whenever possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours when temperatures are more manageable.
Recognize heat-related issues: Educate yourself about the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Stay cool with clothing: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing to help your body stay cool.

Additional tips for outdoor workers:

For outdoor workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
If someone succumbs to the heat, promptly relocate them to a cool, shaded location.
In emergencies, call 911 for immediate assistance.
