Cupertino residents invited to host National Night Out events

National Night Out

The City of Cupertino invites residents to participate in National Night Out by hosting a block party for their neighborhood on Tuesday, Aug. 5. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie through block parties and other events.

Block parties can include potlucks, barbecues, ice cream socials, outdoor games or any other activity that brings neighbors together.

The deadline to register is Thursday, July 10, at https://natw.org. For more information, contact Marta at [email protected].

Staying active

Cupertino was set to close its survey to get feedback on current walking and biking conditions in the city on June 5. A new survey is in the works for the second phase of the Citywide Active Transportation Plan.

Phase 2 will also involve identifying and prioritizing specific infrastructure improvements and making program recommendations. In addition to the new survey, the city is also planning community workshops to gather feedback on proposed project recommendations.

For more information, visit cupertino.gov/atp.

Wildfire prep webinar

The Santa Clara County Fire Department in partnership with the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council is hosting a wildfire preparedness webinar on Thursday, June 12, 6-7:30 p.m. The webinar will cover how to reduce wildfire risk and better prepare your home, your family and your neighborhood.

Dragonfly walk

In the summer and early fall, dragonflies and damselflies migrate to warmer weather in California. These small insects have an incredible ability to fly long distances.

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting a Dragonfly and Damselfly Seasonal Walk on June 11 for adults ages 50 years and older, leaving at 8:30 a.m. from Saratoga or Sunnyvale.

Register at https://www.bayareaolderadults.org/monthlyEvents; location information will be sent upon registration.
