SANTA CLARA — A year after abandoning plans for a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints because of injury attrition, the 49ers will scrimmage two teams during training camp and ahead of their respective preseason games.
The 49ers, with additional grass fields recently installed at their Santa Clara facility, will host the Denver Broncos on Aug. 7, two days before hosting them in a 5:30 p.m. preseason opener at Levi’s Stadium.
The following week, the 49ers will practice Aug. 14 against the Raiders at their Henderson, Nevada spread, followed by a Saturday, Aug. 16 preseason game at 1 p.m. at Allegiant Stadium.
Veterans report for 49ers training camp July 22, with rookies allowed to report July 15, according to an NFL release Wednesday. The 49ers have yet to announce their daily camp schedule and what practices, if any, will be open to the public.
Last summer, the injury-riddled 49ers scrubbed a plan to practice with the New Orleans Saints in Orange County prior to their preseason game at Levi’s Stadium.
