Five held in gang-motivated shooting in San Jose, police say

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident that took place Saturday morning, after they received a report of a stabbing in the 200-block of Del Mesa within the Del Mesa community of Carmel Valley.

When deputies arrived to the house they found the woman had sustained multiple stab wounds to her upper body. She was transported to a local trauma center.

During a search conducted by the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiation Team and Bomb Squad, police realized the suspect had fled the house. The Sheriff’s Office had asked for the public to be on the lookout for Darpinian, who was considered armed and dangerous.

Early Sunday morning, Darpinian approached the security guard station of the Del Mesa Community off of Carmel Valley Road and asked the guard to contact Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies so he could turn himself in.

Darpinian is currently being held at the Monterey County Jail and his bond has been set at $1 million.
