San Jose Sharks select goalie with No. 30 pick at NHL Draft

LOS ANGELES — The San Jose Sharks selected Prince George goalie Josh Ravensbergen with the 30th overall selection at the NHL Draft on Friday at the Peacock Theater.

Ravensbergen, a North Vancouver native, is listed at 6-foot-4 and 192 pounds. This past regular season for Prince George, Ravensbergen had a 33-13-4 record with a 3.00 goals against average and a .896 save percentage.

Ravensbergen was the second goalie taken Friday in the first round of the draft after Pyotr Andreyanov went to the Columbus Blue Jackets at No. 20 overall.

The Sharks acquired the first-round pick from Dallas as part of a February trade that sent forward Mikael Granlund and defenseman Cody Ceci to the Stars.

The Sharks also acquired a conditional third-round pick in the trade, which turned into a fourth-round pick, originally owned by the Winnipeg Jets, when Dallas failed to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. The Stars lost in the Western Conference final to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Sharks, as of now, are also slated to pick 33rd (their own) and 53rd (from Ottawa) in the second round, 95th (from Edmonton) in the third round, 115th (from St. Louis via Columbus) and 124th (from Winnipeg via Dallas) in the fourth round, 150th (from Colorado) in the fifth round, and 210th (from New Jersey) in the seventh round.

The Sharks drafted forward Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit with the second overall selection they won at the NHL Draft Lottery last month.
