Brake lines cut on vehicle parked in Saratoga

Aug. 4

Vandalism: Between July 27 and Aug. 4, someone cut the brake lines of a vehicle parked in the 15000 block of Gypsy Hill Road on two separate occasions, causing approximately $3,000 in damage.

Aug. 6

Organized retail theft: At 6:27 p.m., three suspects entered Safeway in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, acted in concert and stole merchandise of an unknown value before fleeing the scene. One suspect is known, while the other two are unknown.

Aug. 7

Theft by false pretense: A Saratoga resident reported that someone sent her an email, and when she opened it, it downloaded a pop-up virus onto her computer. The victim ultimately spoke with the suspect, who convinced her to download a program allowing remote access to her computer. The suspect then accessed the victim’s bank account and transferred money out for a total loss of about $23,897.

Aug. 8

Identity Theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used his personal information to access his tax records and then made changes resulting in a bill for approximately $9,000.

Residential burglary: At 9:15 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 19000 block of Portos Drive by breaking a rear sliding glass door and stole an unknown amount of cash.

Residential burglary: At 9:53 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 18000 block of Sobey Road through an unsecured door and stole jewelry of an unknown value.
