Scottish Games (159th year), Niles Antique Faire (61st year) will close out August in the Bay Area

Two of the Bay Area’s longest-running traditions will cap off the month of August 2025 — and both take place in Alameda County.

In Fremont, the 61st Niles Antique Faire and Flea Market will get under way at 6 a.m. Sunday (yes, that early) as collectors head to this historic district in search of bargain finds. The event on Niles Boulevard and surrounding streets will run till 4 p.m. Admission is free; paid and free parking available. Details: www.niles.org/antique-faire-and-flea-market

In Pleasanton, gates will open at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds for the159th Scottish Highland Gathering and Games. This celebration of Scottish culture, music and the “heavy” sports has been held in the Bay Area since 1866. Admission and parking passes are sold online only, even on event days; no tickets will be sold at the gate. The Games will end with a 6 p.m. ceremony. Tickets, details: https://thescottishgames.com/
