Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to host three seasonal events

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to host three seasonal events

For those seeking fall cheer or maybe a little fear, it’s that time when Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers its annual seasonal events. This year, there are three: Fright Fest, Oktoberfest and the new family-friendly Tricks and Treats.

Fear Fest, perhaps the most terrifying event of the three, will kick off the screams beginning Sept. 20. Running Friday through Sunday nights, it includes fear-filled Scare Zones, five scary pay-to-panic Haunted Mazes, and of course, fall-themed treats.

This year’s Haunted Maze themes are:

CarnEvil: Ringmaster’s Revenge
Lost Souls
Club Fear
Hotel Hellview 666
Midnight Mansion

New additions include a remastered “CarnEvil: Ringmaster’s Revenge,” featuring frightening dead in the form of wandering clowns and twisted carnival games. With an all-new backstory — and the same evil clowns — this year’s CarnEvil maze captures the essence of an unsuccessful circus and a rag-tag group of clowns looking for their next victims.

“If people were really fans of CarnEvil in years past, we think they will really enjoy this one,” said the park’s Regional Public Relations Manager, Marc Merino.

Returning mazes include “Lost Souls,” which features blood-sucking vampires, “Hotel Hellview 666,” the eerie underground “Club Fear,” and the haunted Victorian-themed “Midnight Mansion.” Each includes its own sprinkle of spooky upgrades.

With a Haunted Attractions Pass, horror-seekers can gain access to all five mazes.

For those who don’t seek a scare, for the first time the park is unveiling the all-new family-friendly Tricks and Treats event. It features all types of fall activities for the kiddos, including hay mazes, monster mask making, a foam pit and even a Trick-or-Treat trail.

In addition to the copious amounts of candy, seasonal treats this year include limited edition funnel cakes and the return of the fan-favorite boozy “blood bags,” this time with a non-alcoholic option.

Last but not least is OktoberFest, a spectacle of bratwursts and brews. This year, however, “is completely different,” said Merino. “We’ve moved Oktoberfest to our main food area in the park, and we’re gonna have a lot more Oktoberfest-themed craft beer and traditional games that are going to be free to play.” Braut binging, involving competitive head-to-head eating, Hold the Stein, and Keg Bowling, to name a few.
