What was Taylor Swift hiding?
Over the past two NFL seasons, the pop megastar has usually stolen the show when she arrives at NFL stadiums to watch her beau Travis Kelce in action with the Kansas City Chiefs.
But on Sunday, Swift initially appeared to skip the Chiefs game at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, in their Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, TMZ and the Daily Mail reported. She wasn’t seen in her usual private suite, cheering Kelce on. But video later emerged showing that Swift had secretly attended the game and did so by slipping into the stadium hiding behind a giant screen.
“I think this is Taylor and I’m confused,” someone wrote on X, while sharing the video.
Swift’s bizarre ruse, which nearly went undetected, set off a frenzy of speculation among her fans about why she didn’t want to be photographed at the game — where the Chiefs lost to the Eagles, 20-17, the Daily Mail said.

Maybe, Swift knew it wouldn’t be a good game for her tight end fiancé and didn’t want her appearance to put added pressure on him. In what commentators have said was a devastating, fourth-quarter moment, Kelce bobbled a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, leading to an interception by the Eagles defense. Before that, during the second quarter, No. 87 was recorded, slamming his helmet on the ground and shouting in apparent frustration, “I’m sick of this (expletive).”
The Daily Mail said it’s not clear why Swift went to such drastic lengths to stay hidden Sunday.
Beyond Kelce having a bad day, some fans suggested that she was trying to hide a bold new hairstyle that she will unveil with the Oct. 3 release of her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” Still others wondered if her staying hidden somehow had to do with building momentum around the theory that the NFL will announce that she’s going to be the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime performer.
And, not surprisingly, there are some who are convinced that Swift tried to stay out of the spotlight because she is pregnant — just after a month after she and Kelce announced that they are engaged.
On a more grave note, still others thought that Swift wanted to keep a low-profile out of security concerns and speculated that the giant screen was bullet proof.
It’s been previously reported that Swift would only attend Chiefs games played at Arrowhead, the team’s home stadium. Unique security concerns for the globally popular mega-star arose in the summer of 2024 after Austrian authorities uncovered a terrorist plot to bomb her three Eras Tour concert performances in Vienna. Those sold-out concerts were canceled.
Following news of the terrorist plot, a source told Page Six that there are security concerns whenever Swift goes to a stadium that isn’t Arrowhead. “She has worked with Arrowhead so many times, (her team) feels at ease and comfortable,” the source said.
