No. 1 De La Salle 47, Grant-Sacramento 20
Jaden Jefferson, Brayden Knight and Duece Jones-Drew each ran for two touchdowns as De La Salle built a commanding first-half lead, withstood a midgame rally and pulled away late for a road win against Sacramento powerhouse Grant. De La Salle improved to 4-0. Grant is 2-3. Darren Sabedra has more details here.
No. 6 Acalanes 42, College Park 7
Acalanes put up 40 points for the third straight week as the Dons cruised to a blowout victory on the road. Tyler Winkles threw for three touchdowns, Josh Elerts rushed for two more and Deonte Littlejohn ran for one to help Acalanes improve to 4-0. College Park (1-3) will host Monte Vista and Acalanes will play at Mt. Diablo next week. – Nathan Canilao
No. 7 Los Gatos 49, Burlingame 0
Los Gatos (2-2) bounced back from a heartbreaker against Clovis by pounding host Burlingame (2-2). Callum Schweitzer completed 6 of 7 passes for Los Gatos for 134 yards. All of the Cats’ scores came on the ground. Grayson Doslak rushed for four scores and 74 yards, Beau Musser ran in a 19-yard score and Devonte Troutt ran in a 42-yard TD. Daxton Kopcsak-Yeung also scored on a 9-yard run. Efe Acar was perfect on seven PATs. Los Gatos has a bye next week before hosting Pittsburg in two weeks. — Christian Babcock
No. 8 California 28, Menlo-Atherton 13
California (4-0) earned a workmanlike win over M-A (0-4) to remain undefeated. For the Bears, Teddy Dacey threw a TD pass and ran for the other score. Kyle Gabriel caught the TD. Cal will host McClymonds next week; M-A will finish nonleague play against San Mateo. — Christian Babcock
No. 10 Campolindo 51, Heritage 3
Campolindo set the tone early as Everett Zellmer caught a 60-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the game. Jacob Gocobachi and Zach Tabibian each had a rushing touchdown in the first half, and quarterback Reid Habas threw another scoring pass to Zellmer to extend the lead to 28-3 at halftime. Tabibian, who finished with 90 yards on 12 carries, scored one more TD early in the third quarter to put Heritage (0-4) away. Zellmer had 140 yards on six catches for Campolindo, which remained undefeated after four games. Heritage kicker Levi Druskin accounted for his team’s points with a field goal late in the fourth quarter. – Nathan Canilao
No. 14 Menlo School 48, Mountain View 10
Jack Freehill threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter and another to start the second period as Menlo built a 28-point lead in its Homecoming game. Freehill ran for a touchdown from 15 yards out later in the second quarter to make it 34-0. Mountain View scored the next 10 points, but Menlo answered with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Trevor van der Pyl and a touchdown run by Merrick Ward to improve to 4-0. No. 16 Clayton Valley Charter 39, Northgate 33
Clayton Valley (2-2) held off host Northgate thanks to four rushing touchdowns from Jhadis Luckey and two TD passes by Nolan Lopez. Jadyn Richards and Andres Watts were the beneficiaries. The Ugly Eagles were up 28-7 before Northgate made it a game late. For the Broncos, Micah Anum posted seven carries for 40 yards and three TDs. Tristan Toleraton had 74 yards rushing and a TD. Bryce Ballard caught three passes for 46 yards and a score. Max Cantrell went 11 of 25 for 206 yards and a TD. Dax Gordon had six catches for 133 yards. Damien Overbruner led Northgate with 12 tackles, and Liam Fruchtenicht had 10. — Christian Babcock
No. 21 Wilcox 42, Santa Clara 0
There’s no doubt who the best team in Santa Clara is after this one. Kai Imahara threw two TD passes and ran for another in the rout. Freshman Miles Cheney caught two TD passes. Wilcox improved to 2-2. Santa Clara fell to 2-2. The Chargers have a bye before finishing their nonleague slate against Capuchino. The Broncos take on Woodside next week. — Christian Babcock
No. 24 Monte Vista 42, James Logan 7
Ian Ondricek’s stellar season continued as the senior threw four touchdown passes in a blowout victory. The Mustangs led 14-0 after the first quarter and didn’t look back. In one of the strangest plays of the night, Gavin Helms returned a 7-yard punt for a touchdown to extend the Mustangs’ lead in the fourth quarter. Monte Vista (3-1) travels to College Park next week while James Logan (2-2) hosts Castro Valley in its next game. – Nathan Canilao
East Bay
Alameda 45, Mt. Diablo 21
Kirk Humbles III ran for a touchdown, catching a touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown as Alameda improved to 4-0 with a blowout victory on the road over previously undefeated Mt. Diablo. Nathan Canilao was in Concord and has the game story here.
Benicia 43, Miramonte 7
The Panthers shocked visiting Miramonte, which brought an undefeated record to the game. Quarterback Elijah Nelson threw for two touchdowns – one to Marcel Briscoe and another to Joseph Wardy. Thomas Jouvenot-Sells had two rushing touchdowns and Anthony Jordan added another. Defensive lineman Brandon Freitas had a pick-six in what coach CJ Anderson called a “team win.” Benicia (1-3) is scheduled to host Encinal next week. Miramonte (3-1) will travel to Windsor for its next game. – Nathan Canilao
Foothill 14, San Leandro 7
Max Shuga made a spectacular 21-yard catch on a pass from Gavin Brown to set up Amaree Hill’s winning touchdown run with less two minutes to play as Foothill edged host San Leandro at Burrell Field. Hill scored both of Foothill’s touchdowns. Evan Webeck has the complete story from San Leandro here.
Livermore 40, Arroyo 13
Senior Mateo Lortie threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns and added two rushing scores as Livermore crushed visiting Arroyo. Livermore (4-0) will travel to Heritage next week. Arroyo (1-2) is scheduled to play at Piedmont in its next game. – Nathan Canilao
Moreau Catholic 35, Balboa 24
Moreau Catholic (1-3) picked up its first win of the year with a home triumph over Balboa of San Francisco (2-2). Seth Evans rushed for three TDs, Chris Wilson ran in one and AJ Jackson had a pick-six and a late interception to “ice the game,” Moreau coach Keith Minor said. Moreau travels to Berkeley next week. — Christian Babcock
Piedmont 36, Aragon 16
Jimmy Lagios passed for 188 yards and two touchdowns to help lead visiting Piedmont to a nonleague victory on the road against Aragon. Cash Panico caught five passes, including a 68-yard touchdown reception. David Kiefer has the full story here.
Windsor 31, Dublin 14
Dublin had a rough night in the North Bay as the Gaels allowed eight sacks and lost three fumbles in a nonleague loss to Windsor. The home team led 21-0 at halftime and 31-0 through three quarters. Andre Armendariz finished with 48 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Dublin, which fell to 2-2. The visitors had 143 yards of offense, a little more than half in the fourth quarter. South Bay/Peninsula
Branham 56, Sobrato 27
Branham (3-1) handled Sobrato (1-3) at home as running back Michael Murphy had a career night, rushing for five TDs and 230 yards for the Bruins, who improved to 3-1. QB Andrew Ho kept the ball on the ground as well, rushing for 119 yards on 11 carries while tossing two TD passes and completing 12 of 19 throws. Seniors Koben Brown and James Vu caught Ho’s touchdowns. Senior Nico Gomez had a rushing TD. Bradyen Hodges caught seven passes for 74 yards. For Sobrato (1-3), Brayden Hughes and Brady Lennon scored on the ground, and Hughes tossed two TD passes, to Jacob Sorrentino and Gabriel YellowHorse Ruiz. — Christian Babcock
Hillsdale 27, Terra Nova 6
Hillsdale (2-2) had itself a nice trip to Pacifica as Grant Mattias threw two TD passes and Branden Kee passed for one to lead the way. Kee found Tyler Essa for a 15-yard score. Mattias made scoring connections with Brady Skidmore and Maximus Miller. Nicco Davis converted three of four PATs. Joey Donati scored Terra Nova’s lone TD on a 1-yard run. Lincoln-San Jose 35, Gunderson 14
Kyan Phillips scored five touchdowns Thursday to power the Lions to a victory on the road. Phillips made the most of nine carries, rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught two passes from Luca Papoulias for 126 yards and two more TDs, giving him 278 all-purpose yards on 11 touches. Leo Molina was 5-of-5 on PATs. Lincoln (4-0) hosts Del Mar on Friday. Live Oak 42, Westmont 7
Live Oak made quick work of Westmont as the Acorns received three passing TDs from Adrian Leal, who completed 6 of 7 passes for 185 yards. Tanner Holeman caught two of Leal’s TD passes and Isaac Watson snatched one. Gage Jones rushed for 210 yards and three scores on 10 carries. Live Oak improved to 4-0. MacDonald 51, Gunn 14
MacDonald officially stamped itself as one of the teams to beat in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Lake Division after routing Gunn, last year’s undefeated Lake champion who moved up to the El Camino Division this season. Siaosi Hautau had a rushing TD and a 96-yard pick-six to help lead MacDonald (3-0). John Leonard had two sacks and a 26-yard pick-six. Isaiah Tela had a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a receiving TD. Moussa Fall passed for two touchdowns. Nate Pullickial had six tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. Willow Glen 22, Christopher 21
Willow Glen mounted a dramatic comeback to stun Christopher in San Jose as Aiden Akery ran in the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. The game turned on a blocked punt in the third quarter by Zackary Papedis. Christian Babcock has the full story here.
