As you might expect, National Taco Day is always on a Tuesday, the first Tuesday in October to be exact. This year it falls on Oct. 7, meaning restaurant chains will be offering discounts today or this week.
The following offers were announced on social media, websites or in news releases. Unless otherwise noted, they are good only on Oct. 7. Also, prices or participation may vary by location.
TACO BELL (multiple locations): The fast-food giant will have offers for its app users every other hour from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., including food ($1 Cantina Chicken tacos), $5 off Party Packs all day, and National Taco Day T-shirts. Also, people ordering through DoorDash can get buy-one-get-one tacos.
EL POLLO LOCO (San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Dublin, Hayward, Concord, Richmond, Livermore): Loyalty club members can mix and match any three chicken tacos for $5 through the Loco Rewards app.
PUESTO (Santa Clara, Concord): Tacos are half off from 3 to 9 p.m. today (and every Tuesday) at Puesto, which offers chef-created versions such as Tamarindo Shrimp, Filet Mignon and Lobster. Valid on dine-in only; no takeout orders.
BAJA FRESH (Los Gatos, Palo Alto, San Jose, Danville, Livermore): Receive $5 off any order of $10 or more made on the app. Use the code TACO.

DEL TACO (Pittsburg, Fairfield, Vacaville): Rewards members can get a free Del Taco with a $10 purchase Oct. 7-9. The chain has declared October Del Tacoberfest and is marking it with a new limited-time Del Dorado Chicken Menu.
