‘Marvel Snap’ launches its ‘Undead Horde’ season in time for spooky season

“Marvel Snap” has always been a vehicle that ties in to Marvel Studios’ work. When a new film or show comes out, the Second Dinner game almost always has a way to deepen fans’ connection to a property, by introducing new characters and locations.

With the release of “Marvel Zombies” on Disney+, “Marvel Snap” is highlighting a new season focused on the “Undead Horde.” In this update, launch at noon today, the developer will begin releasing eight new cards focused on zombified versions of well-known characters. It also introduces a new keyword called Horde, which creates a Zombie Horde in another location.

Zombie Scarlet Witch is the centerpiece Season Pass card, and she starts off a horde. The $9.99 purchase is normally the most worthwhile deal for the game. Meanwhile, the Super Premium Pass at $19.99 boosts players levels letting them gain more awards initially. More recently, Second Dinner has also added a second card to the mix. This month, it’s Headpool, which boosts the power of cards in your hand by +1, if it’s played and destroyed. It also returns back to a player’s hand.

Second Dinner will introduce new Series 5 cards each week of the season. Here’s what they’re releasing:

Oct. 7 – Colonel America: The zombiefied version of Captain America has the following ability – Ongoing: Your other cards here have +1 Power for each turn you’ve discarded a card.
Oct. 14 – Zombie Mister Fantastic: The Undead Fantastic Four member has an On Reveal and Activate ability. On Reveal: Horde +2. Activate: Give 4 of your created cards +1 Power.
Oct. 21 – Zombie Captain Marvel: She works similarly to her normal counterpart, but she has an interesting ability. Activate: Destroy your other cards here to get +3 Power for each. Move to a location you’re losing.
Oct. 28 – Zombie Galacti: This card has an interesting design that raises a few questions. It says, Start of Game: Choose 6 other cards in your deck. On Reveal: Transform those cards into copies of this.

In addition, four Series 4 cards are coming out. They are the following:

Zombie Giant-Man with the ability: On Reveal: Horde +1, then this gains Power equal to your Zombie Horde.

Zombie Power Man: End of Turn:
If you’re winning here, discard the leftmost card from your hand.
The Hunger: On Reveal: Horde +3. (It’s a skill card)
Zombie Sentry: On Reveal: Horde +1 for each of your cards at the right location.

Players can find Zombie Giant Man and Zombie Power Man in Seasonal Series 4 packs on Oct. 7. Meanwhile, The Hunger and Zombie Sentry can be earned as rewards in special limited-time modes. The Hunger will be offered in Sanctum Showdown, running from Oct. 15 to Oct. 22, and Zombie Sentry will be available in Grand Arena Oct. 27 to Nov. 3.

If players missed Viv Vision or Danger from September, they’re coming out in Seasonal Series 5 and Seasonal Series 4 packs on Oct. 7 and Oct. 18, respectively.

Bottom line:
For players, it’s worth getting the season pass and cards because it opens up a new archetype. The Horde mechanic will likely having staying power with the several of this season’s cards such as Zombie Captain Marvel and Zombie Power Man aging well with an impact outside of October.
