Teen accused of Bay Area high school bomb threat

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a bomb threat at Archie Williams High School.

Central Marin police announced the arrest Thursday. The Aug. 27 incident prompted a school evacuation and a police search of the San Anselmo campus. No explosives or suspicious materials were found, Central Marin police Sgt. Jeff Peterson said.

Detectives investigated, obtained search warrants and connected the incident to the suspect, Peterson said. He was arrested on suspicion of making a false bomb threat. Authorities booked him into Marin County Juvenile Hall. His name was not released.

Courtney Goode, superintendent of the Tamalpais Union High School District, informed the community of the arrest in a letter to parents and district staff.

“The district will pursue appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with our own policies, procedures, and state law,” he said. “That process and its outcome will remain confidential.

“A false threat of violence — no matter the intent — has real and profound impacts,” he said. “It diverts emergency resources, disrupts learning, causes emotional trauma and shakes the sense of safety that every student and staff member deserves.”
