SAN LEANDRO — Despite allegedly flushing an unknown quantity of methamphetamine and heroin down his toilet during a police raid, a local resident has been charged with being a drug dealer, court records show.
The 51-year-old San Leandro resident was charged with possessing heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and marijuana for sale, and with being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, court records show. He was released from jail after posting $230,000 bail, and is next due in court in November.
The man became a suspect after police surveillance noticed him regularly making hand to hand transactions with “pedestrians and motorists” on the 1800 block of 90th Avenue in Oakland, authorities said.
On Aug. 8, police say they found nearly two pounds of heroin in the man’s van. They followed this up with an Aug. 26 raid of his home on the 14400 block of Doolittle Drive in San Leandro, where officers allegedly found a half-pound of heroin, other drugs in “various weights and packages” and approximately $19,000 in cash, according to court records.
Investigators also found a torn bag with heroin residue located near a toilet, and noted that the toilet seat had loose methamphetamine shards and suspected heroin smudged on the bowl.
