The 2025 Nissan Murano AWD Platinum SUV

November 2, 2025
The 2025 Nissan Murano AWD Platinum SUV

What is a Murano? The Murano is a midsize SUV built in the Smyrna, Tennessee assembly plant and sold in North America by Nissan. The 2025 Murano Platinum edition is the top tier trim of Nissan’s redesigned 5 passenger midsize SUV. It features a new 2.0L turbocharged engine, a spacious, quiet interior, high end amenities, with a focus on comfort and technology that includes massaging seats, large dual displays and advanced high tech driver assistance features.

And who is Nissan? Nissan is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer that produces cars, trucks, SUVs, sports cars and electric vehicles under the Nissan, Infiniti and Nismo brands. Founded in 1911 and evolving into Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in 1933, the company is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan and is known for its innovative and reliable vehicles. It’s a major global player in the automotive industry, with a history dating back to the early 20th century.

So, what are the key characteristics of a 2025 Nissan Murano AWD Platinum SUV?

Trim Level: The Platinum edition signifies the most luxurious and feature rich version of the 2025 Murano.

Redesigned Model: The 2025 Murano is a completely redesigned model for the year, featuring a fresh exterior and interior.

Overall Size: It’s a 5 passenger midsize 2 row SUV, offering more space than compact SUVs like the Nissan Rogue, but without a 3rd row.

Spacious & Comfortable: The Murano Platinum is known for its relaxing, open, and spa like interior, with ample space for passengers, pets and cargo.

Premium Features: It comes with genuine leather upholstery, available ventilated and massaging front seats and heated rear seats.

Large Displays: The interior is highlighted by large 12.3″ dual displays for the driver information and infotainment system, providing a modern tech experience.

Turbocharged Engine: Powered by a new 2.0L VC Turbo 4 cylinder gas engine.

All Wheel Drive: The Platinum edition comes standard with all wheel drive (AWD).

Advanced Driver Assist: The Platinum trim includes ProPILOT Assist and a suite of advanced driver assistance technologies, all designed to enhance the driving experience.

Key Differences from Other Trims: The Platinum edition includes features not found on lower trims, such as a dual panel panoramic moonroof, a set of 21″ alloy wheels, and the most advanced available features like massaging seats and the full ProPilot suite.

To showcase this new model, this week Nissan sent me a 2025 Murano SUV to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this AWD Platinum Edition is $49,600. The options on the test SUV are: the premium paint for $425, the carpeted floor and cargo mats with seatback protectors and cargo blocks for $510, the illuminated cargo scuff plate for $505, the exterior lighting package for $675, the panoramic headliner illumination kit for $430 and the illuminated kick plates for $415. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,390 delivery charge is: $53,950.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to $60,694. At just 306 bucks under $61 Grand, you get a fully optioned, platinum edition, top of the line, midsize SUV that gets 21 MPG in city driving, 27 MPG on the highway and 23 MPG in combined driving. Not bad for a midsize SUV loaded with top of the line options that can carry 5 people and all their cargo for around $60,000.  As Goldilocks said, “It’s not too big, not too small, it’s just the right size.”

The primary buyer for the 2025 Nissan Murano is someone seeking a 5 passenger, mid size SUV with a balance of comfort, style, and advanced technology, particularly those who want more space than a smaller crossover, but don’t want the third row of a larger, 3 row SUV. This vehicle historically appeals to affluent Nissan buyers looking for a refined experience over pure sportiness or ruggedness; although the 2025 model’s new gas turbo charged engine and slightly decreased horsepower may reduce its appeal to some buyers.
Here is a quick breakdown of the ideal buyer for a 2025 Nissan Murano SUV.

Wants a comfortable and refined ride: The Murano offers a generally soft and quiet ride, appealing to those who prioritize comfort.

Prioritizes style and interior design: The redesigned 2025 model features a sleek exterior and a well appointed interior with a focus on technology, such as a new digital gauge cluster and infotainment system.

Seeks a spacious 5 passenger SUV: It’s larger than smaller crossovers like the Rogue or CR-V, making it a good option for families and individuals who need ample space, but don’t want or need a 3 row SUV.

Value advanced technology: The 2025 model introduces new digital interfaces, wireless connectivity and many other high tech features.

A historically affluent buyer: The Murano has traditionally attracted buyers who are less focused on fleet sales, and more interested in a retail focused, somewhat luxurious offering within the Nissan lineup.

New driveline: The 2025 model features an all new 2.0L VC-Turbo 16 valve DOHC 4 cylinder gas engine, with 241 horsepower (HP) and 260 lb-ft of torque, bolted to a new 9 speed automatic transmission, and directed into an intelligent AWD traction control system with drive mode select.

Market positioning: Nissan is positioning the Murano as a stylish and refined midsize offering, rather than a competitor in the growing “rugged” SUV segment.

You should consider buying the 2025 Nissan Murano for its attractive, redesigned styling and comfortable, quiet cabin, along with its standard suite of safety features, including Nissan Safety Shield 360 and ProPilot Assist.

Stylish Redesign: The 2025 Murano boasts a completely new, upscale exterior and a well finished, stylish interior.

Comfortable Ride: Owners and reviewers note the comfortable and quiet cabin, providing a pleasant driving experience.

Standard Safety Tech: It includes Nissan Safety Shield 360, a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies, as well as ProPilot Assist for enhanced driving.

Modern Interior Features: The interior features modern touches, including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a large central stack digital display.

Available Two Tone Design: The option for a 2 tone exterior design with a black roof adds a premium and stylish touch.

Price: The starting price for a 2025 Nissan Murano is $40,470 for the SV FWD trim, with other trims and options increasing the price. Prices can vary greatly, so it is important to check with the dealership and factor in the destination fee, registration and DMV fees, and the sales tax, to get an exact price for the model that you really want.

So call, click or visit your local Nissan dealer for a test drive, and a Bottom Line price review, on the 2025 Murano AWD Platinum SUV. And remember that the base price for a new Murano starts at only $40,470. Nissan – Energetic Elegance.
