Students in the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District consistently outperformed their peers at the state and county levels in this year’s round of state testing, according to a press release from the school district.

Every spring, students in grade 11 take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress and the California Science Test. This year the high school district ranked No. 1 in the state for English or language arts and No. 3 for math.
Almost 84% of test-takers in the district exceeded state standards in English and language arts, compared to 48.8% statewide and 59.8% in Santa Clara County. About 68% of juniors at Los Gatos and Saratoga high schools also exceeded expectations in math, as compared to 53% in the county and 37% in the state. Almost 60% of juniors in the district exceeded science standards, as compared to 48% in the county and 33% in the state.
“These results speak to the dedication and perseverance of our students and staff,” said Superintendent Heath Rocha. “While we’re incredibly proud of these achievements, we also recognize that state tests are just one measure of student success.”
Bike safety at school
Los Gatos High School implemented a bike registration program to allow only legal bikes and e-bikes to park at the school, according to Vice Mayor Rob Moore’s November newsletter.
The program bans illegal e-motorcycles from parking on campus, with the broader goal of limiting the number of illegal e-motorcycles on town streets.
Students must register their bikes and get a parking sticker, which the system the school already uses for registering cars. Registrants will also have to complete the Bicycle Safety Program before getting their parking permit, which is free.
