Photos: Annual White Elephant Sale

Everything from vintage items to semi-new household goods at very low prices occupy the warehouse of two football fields as part of the annual White Elephant Sale organized by the Oakland Museum Women’s Board in East Oakland.

The sale is expected to draw thousands of shoppers from Jan. 29 to Feb. 22, then conclude with a two-day clearance weekend on March 1 and 2.

The funds raised during the event support the Oakland Museum of California’s educational programs, exhibitions and marketing.

About 900 volunteers and 70 board members sorted through donations and arranged them for sale in the 20 departments and subdepartments — furniture, clothing, shoes, electric items, jewelry, sports, toys, books and art, just to name a few.
