Update: Bay Area Shorelines under a high wind watch until Friday morning

Bay Area Shorelines is under an updated high wind watch which was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 4:43 a.m. The watch is valid from 10 p.m. until Friday 10 a.m.

The NWS San Francisco CA said, “Southwest winds 35 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph possible. Isolated gusts to 80 mph along some coastal areas such as the Big Sur Coast and Marin Coastal Range.”

“Strong winds may move loose debris, result in minor damage to property, and cause sporadic power outages. Travel could become difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees,” the NWS said. “Secure loose outdoor objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.”

The full list of affected locations includes:

Marin Coastal Range
Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore
San Francisco Peninsula Coast
Northern Monterey Bay
Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast
San Francisco County
