Luxurious development

Officials cut the ribbon Feb. 13 on Avelle, a luxury apartment community at the gateway to Mountain View. Located at Shoreline Boulevard and Highway 101, the development offers 203 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, including 30 affordable apartments.
“This development is increasing much-needed housing, including below-market units, in our city and provides another option for people to live where they work and play,” said Mayor Ellen Kamei in a release.

Developers Sares Regis Group of Northern California and Stockbridge Capital Group partnered with SBI Builders as general contractor in the project, which sits on six acres of what used to be surface parking lots. The 203-unit building represents the close of the second phase of construction, which also includes a five-story parking garage. The third and final phase will add 100 more homes, designed by architecture firm Studio T Square.

Prestige career path

A recent survey of 3,018 young adults found that in California, the prestige pathway from college to career is Stanford University to Google.

The survey by career.io asked 18- to 25-year-olds which university they would most want listed on their resume as their alma mater, and which company they would ideally want as their first employer to launch your career.

California respondents indicated that both Stanford and Google are synonymous with excellence in technology and innovation, making the former the perfect springboard to a career with the latter.

The second and third favorite combinations among young Californians were University of California, Berkeley to Tesla and California Institute of Technology to Apple, respectively.
