San Mateo basketball player Zidane Auzarang is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Jan. 6-11.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Auzarang finished with 31.79% of the vote. Milpitas basketball player Isaac Sisay took second and Head-Royce basketball player Micah Nyamuzuwe was third.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Auzarang, a senior, scored 21 points in San Mateo’s 45-35 win over El Camino. San Mateo (9-4, 2-0) plays host to South San Francisco on Wednesday.
