HAYWARD — A 41-year-old man died Sunday morning from injuries suffered when he was ejected from a pick-up truck that had crashed into a curb and tipped on its side, authorities said.

The man’s name was not released pending notification of his family. Police said he was a Hayward resident.

Two male occupants of the vehicle who ran away on foot were still being sought Monday.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 3:25 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Gresel Street.

In a news release, police said officers arrived on scene and found a silver Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck had struck the east curb of Mission Boulevard and rolled onto the driver’s side, coming to a rest near the curb.

Before it came to rest, a passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

Witnesses on scene reported two unidentified males fleeing the scene of the collision, police said. Detailed descriptions of them were not released.

Police said drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in the collision.
