Oakland: Two charged with taking turns raping 14-year-old and filming it

OAKLAND — Two men have been arrested and charged with taking turns raping a 14-year-old girl and documenting the alleged crimes with a video that was posted to social media, court records show.

Kamerreon Barrera, 19, and Anthony Parq Smith, whose age wasn’t immediately available, were charged in a 12-count felony complaint. The charges include forcible rape of a minor, rape in concert and using a minor for sex acts. Smith has also been charged with possession or control of child pornography, court records show.

Barrera was arrested on March 13 and is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, with bail set at $1.24 million. Smith was arrested in January, pleaded not guilty on Jan. 22 and was released from jail after a bail hearing, records show.

Police began investigating the two men on Dec. 9, when the alleged victim came forward. She said she and a 12-year-old friend went to an Oakland apartment to meet Barrera, and that when he made sexual advances, she was afraid to resist because he was known to post pictures of himself holding guns on social media, authorities said.

A detective found a video depicting Smith sexually abusing the girl, and determined Barrera filmed it, police said. Barrera surrendered to police after learning of the charges, records show.

The 12-year-old girl reported to police that she also had been sexually abused by Barrera in November, after telling him she was “16 or 17,” police said in court records. No charges have been filed in connection with that alleged incident.
